Habitat

This fire coral occurs in Mauritius, the Red Sea, and the Indo-West Pacific. It is a bottom-dwelling species, most commonly found at depths of 0.2 to 3 m.

Behaviour

It is a carnivorous suspension feeder: its polyps capture plankton and detritus from the surrounding water and digest the catch within their gastrovascular cavity.
