Shaab El Erg
Sha'ab El Erg is a horseshoe-shaped reef located between Hurghada and El Gouna. It is about 7km/4mi in length and has several different dive spots on all sides. In the center of the horseshoe is a shallow lagoon scattered with ergs, where a resident pod of dolphins can be seen all year round. The most popular dive site is Dolphin House in the north, home to a large pod of bottlenose dolphins. Another popular site is Gota Sha'ab el Erg on the southwest point, which is teeming with marine life. Manta rays visit Sha'ab el Erg, especially in February and March. The reef also offers beautiful coral gardens at less than 5 meters deep, making it a favorite spot for snorkelers and underwater photographers. It is important to note that physical contact with the marine life at Sha'ab El Erg should be avoided. Additionally, the site is frequently used by safari boats as a night dive spot.
