Bigeye
Priacanthus hamrur
Known variously as the lunar-tailed bigeye, goggle eye, or moontail bullseye, this is a marine fish in the family Priacanthidae. Its large eyes and reddish colouring make it a distinctive reef inhabitant.

Habitat
This reef-associated species favours tropical waters along outer reef slopes, rocky ground, and lagoons. It ranges in depth from 8 to 250 m (26 to 820 ft), though it is most often encountered between 30 and 50 m (100 to 160 ft).
Behaviour
A mainly nocturnal hunter, it preys on small fishes, crustaceans, and a range of invertebrates such as small cephalopods, shrimp, crabs, and polychaete worms. Eggs, larvae, and the youngest juveniles drift in open water. Adults are usually solitary but may gather in small groups or, at times, large schools out in the open sea, with numbers peaking around August.
