Habitat
Adults live on coral reefs, in tide pools, and on rocky reefs, while the larvae drift in the open sea. Found in tropical and subtropical waters, the species is typically encountered at depths of 1 to 15 m (3.3 to 49.2 ft).
Behaviour
These fish gather in large aggregations, within which individuals either feed in midwater or guard their nests. Their diet consists of zooplankton, benthic algae, and small invertebrates.
